ABOUT ME

Hi, I am Winston Ow – founder of Initial Bookkeeping and experienced bookkeeping professional in Canada. After earning two diplomas in Marketing and Accounting Management, I began my career in the corporate finance industry and have gained over a decade of experience in accounting. Starting as a Junior Bookkeeper, I quickly progressed into the roles of Project Controller and Assistant Controller. With my enthusiastic, open-minded and curious mindset, I was given the opportunity to take my skill set to garner international experiences. The role of Project and Assistant Controller for an International dredging company had me working across the country to the Maritimes (Sydney, Nova Scotia), South America (Brazil, Argentina, Panama) and occasionally across the Atlantic Ocean to the Netherlands.

After 12 years of accounting experience, I have reached a crossroads in my career path, where my interests have shifted from corporate financing to helping others in the small and medium-sized business sectors. With the decade-long experience I have attained, I am excited by the idea of achieving success by helping others to do the same through the use of cloud-based accounting software and other product application solutions. With the ever-changing technologies in the bookkeeping industry, I am committed to continually upgrade myself with the latest trends and provide improved solutions for my clients’ needs.

Work-life balance is essential to my business success, and I highly encourage my clients to do the same. I believe that we, as business owners, are not looking to spend endless hours on our work, but instead, we crave for the freedom of choosing the convenience of our own time and location of work, accomplish our own personal and business goals, and spending valuable time with our loved ones.
